StatFlight crew members complete hundreds of hours of continuing education each year to insure that a high level of patient care is provided to our customers. In addition, many of the flight professionals maintain national certifications such as CEN, CCRN, and CCEMTP The flight team is supported by emergency medical specialists who are available for patient consultations and crew direction 24 hours a day, days per year.

The StatFlight medical directors and their team of physicians work with the paramedics and nurses to implement patient care protocols, monitor continuous quality improvement, conduct and complete medical research, and organize emergency medical service educational events.

StatFlight medical direction team is one of the most experienced in the nation. The medical equipment and medications on board make a StatFlight aircraft a mobile emergency room equipped to handle any patient who has been critically injured or ill.

The flight team uses external defibrillators, external and internal pacemakers, advanced ventilatory and airway management equipment, intra-aortic balloon pump equipment and fetal monitors when required for high risk obstetrical patients. The team also has available an extensive pharmacological capability. Local law enforcement officials, fire fighters, first responders, emergency medical providers, dispatchers and healthcare professionals can contact the StatFlight Emergency Communications Center to request a critical-care transport from the scene of any injury, significant cardiac or neurological emergency or between healthcare facilities.

Hotline Number: Call for medical transport when medical professionals trained in critical-care medicine and critical-care equipment are needed to adequately care for the patient. Clearly, cardiac patients requiring invasive procedures will benefit from rapid transport to a tertiary care center.
